Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
Assessment and treatment for heel and arch pain, including plantar fasciitis.
What it is
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It affects the thick band of tissue that runs under your foot from the heel to the toes. It is often worst with the first steps in the morning or after resting. Heel pain can also come from the Achilles tendon, fat pad, nerves or other structures, so a proper assessment matters.
What to expect
We'll ask about your symptoms, work, activity and footwear, and examine your foot and how you move. Most heel pain is managed first with simple measures, such as stretching and strengthening exercises, footwear advice, strapping and changes to activity. Depending on what we find, we may suggest a biomechanical assessment, orthotics, Laser therapy or, if other approaches haven't helped, a steroid injection. Heel pain can take time to settle, and we'll give you a realistic plan.
